ANIMATION, ACCORDING TO CORDELL BARKER

Dear Readers,

Here is a drawing by famed Canadian Animator Cordell Barker (“Cat Came Back”, “Spaced Invaders”, “Runaway”) that perfectly captures the myth and reality of being an animator. Its wonderful. I just wanted to share it with you, although I must say I really love my drawing board. Thanks to Cordell.

  1. Yeah, this is how outsiders see us : "oh, it must be so much FUN to sit around and draw cartoons all day!" (with the implication that we don't really do any work, just fun, fun, party, party , scratch out a few cartoons in between jokes and martinis )

I love everything about animation, I can't do anything else, and I can't see myself working in any other field , but it's work dammit.

  2. Thanks for posting... as a student good to see it is still hard work for the seasoned professional!

  3. Any resemblance to reality is purely a coincidence :-P
    Thanks!
